Wayne Schneider is associate professor music at the University of Vermont where he teaches music history. He is Director of Music at the Unitarian-Universalist Society in Burlington, Vermont. His wife, Paula Olsen, is a reference librarian at Champlain College. They live with several cats.

Publications

His work on George Gershwin can be found in the Musical Quarterly (December 2010); he also edited a collection of new essays on Gershwin, The Gershwin Style, published by Oxford University Press (1999). His other publications include an edition (with Judith Tick) of Rith Crawford's orchestral music, published by the American Musicological Society (2nd ed., 1996), and articles and entries in the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Grove Dictionary of American Music, Grove Dictionary of Jazz, Harvard Dictionary of Music, American Music, Humanities, Notes, and the Institute for Studies in American Music Newsletter.
