Marilyn T. Lucas is an Associate Professor of Decision Analytics and Operations Management in the Grossman School of Business at the University of Vermont. Dr. Lucas completed her undergraduate degree from the Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieurs des Techniques Agricoles (E.N.I.T.A) in Dijon, France, then moved to the United Sates. She completed her M.S. in Operations Management from Michigan Technological University, and then her Ph.D. in Operations Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Lucas teaches courses in the Business Analytics area, including BUS 2130 - Decision Analysis, BSAD 2700 - Operations Management, and BSAD 3700 - Quantitative Methods for Decision-Making/Operations Research. Prior to joining UVM, Dr. Lucas taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Operations Management at Bentley University and undergraduate courses in Operations Research and Operations Management at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Lucas’ research interests include strategic issues in operations management, including sustainable operations, healthcare operations, and the operations/marketing interface. She relies not only on operations research-based modeling and simulation-based approaches to analyze the design of queueing systems and the management of perishable inventories, but also on empirically-based techniques to investigate the impact of environmental management initiatives on firm financial performance. She has published in academic journals such as Management Science, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Business Strategy and the Environment, among others. Dr. Lucas is a member of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS); The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS); and Decision Sciences Institute (DSI).

Dr. Lucas grew up on Reunion Island, which is off the East Coast of Africa.
