To be considered by the Graduate Studies Committee, applicants to the Master of Accountancy must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree
  • 2.75 (4.0 scale) overall GPA
  • International students only: TOEFL of 90 or IELTS of 7.0.

Although the GMAT (or the GRE equivalent) is not required, students with lower overall GPAs and/or students who graduated from foreign universities may submit their GMAT scores to enhance their academic credentials.

Prerequisite Courses

  • Microeconomics
  • Principles of Financial Accounting (Introductory Financial Accounting)
  • Principles of Managerial Accounting (Introductory Managerial Accounting)
  • Corporate Financial Reporting 1 (Intermediate Accounting 1)
  • Corporate Financial Reporting 2 (Intermediate Accounting 2)

Students with undergraduate business degrees have likely completed most of the prerequisite requirements. All applicants must complete principles of financial accounting (or have prior accounting experience) before beginning the program.

The class size is currently capped at 45 students.

To help us review your completed application as soon as possible please read the following helpful hints.

Begin your online application by completing your personal information and statement. Ask three individuals (most often faculty members) if they are willing to be a reference for your application. You only need their names and contact information to apply. The automated system will email each person for their recommendation.

If you are currently taking classes, do not wait for final grades to submit your application. Doing so will only delay application review and consideration for the program. Include an unofficial transcript with your application. You will then need to submit an official transcript after you graduate or complete your coursework.

Make sure your test scores (optional GMAT, TOEFL, or IELTS if required) and other documentation are sent directly from the testing institute to the Graduate College.

Students should consider applying for the summer semester to take advantage of condensed courses offered before the start of the fall semester. Students who meet the prerequisite requirements can complete the MAcc program in one academic year.
