Who should apply to Passport to UVM?

Passport to UVM is designed for juniors and seniors who are not United States citizens or permanent residents and are currently attending high school in the United States. In this way, the program is intended for F-1 visa holders. Students studying in other countries are also welcome to apply.  Applicants may apply for a travel grant (PDF) to help with the cost of traveling to UVM.

Please be advised that we are looking for students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher. Applicants should be on track to have completed the following by graduation:

  • 3 years of math (including algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2 or the equivalent)
  • 3 years of a natural or physical science (including a laboratory science)
  • 2 years of the same foreign language (English counts for non-native English speakers)
  • 3 years of social science

There is no TOEFL requirement for Passport to UVM. However, please be advised that to gain direct entry into UVM, students must meet the minimum English proficiency requirement with a 90 TOEFL, 6.5 IELTS, or have been in an English medium school for three years without any ESL courses in their final year.
