  Core Facilities

Imaging and Physiology Core
This core provides state of the art imaging capabilities for work on live cells with concomitant electrophysiological measurements. The system allows multifluorochrome capability on thin sections or cells and utilizes a wide field deconvolution restoration approach. This core complements the Microscopy Imaging Facility in the College of Medicine.

Cellular and Molecular Core
This core facilitates development of molecular approaches by individuals whose expertise lies outside molecular biology. The core consists of a well-equipped molecular biology laboratory with technical staff and consultation service to help individuals develop molecular approaches to their research. The core is not meant as a service facility to provide molecular biology services to established molecular biology laboratories; however, the core maintains several multi-user instruments (centrifuges, imagers, etc) available to all.

Translational Core
This core is designed to develop an intellectual environment to facilitate career development of faculty and to promote interactions between basic and clinical neuroscience. It provides an opportunity for medical students and residents to experience basic and clinical research programs in Neuroscience with the eventual goals of attracting high quality students and residents into investigative careers. A Translational Neuroscience course will bring together basic science faculty, graduate students, residents and faculty in neuroscience-related clinical disciplines to facilitate development of research programs that address the biological basis of neural diseases.
