COBRE in Neuroscience

The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology has been awarded a competitive renewal of its Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Neuroscience funded by the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health. The $11,197,450 award will fund the research projects of four junior neuroscience investigators. Lead investigators are Rodney Parsons, chair and professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology, and Cynthia Forehand, professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology.

External evaluation of the Center is provided by an external advisory group:

  • John Bixby, Professor, Departments of Molecular & Cellular Pharmacology and Neurological Surgery, University of Miami
  • Stephen Heinemann, Professor and Director of the Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory at the Salk Institute
  • William Mobley, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at Stanford University and Neurologist in Chief for the Stanford Academic Medical Center
  • Mahendra Rao, Vice President of Research in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Technologies, Invitrogen
