What our students have to say...
Ever since my first semester freshman year, which I spent out in Flagstaff, AZ I have been a microbiology major. When I transferred in here, however, I declared a general biology major. Up until finally transferring into the MMG department I did not care much for my classes and was very uncertain that I would want to continue in biology. The first class that I took after transferring into the department was MMG 101 and after that I was hooked. Every single MMG course that I have taken since has been fantastic and after leaving the laboratory on lab days I felt more and more certain that I had made the best decision of my life. I attended a very small private high school in New Hampshire where I had a very close relationship with all of my teachers as well as my advisor. I did not think that it would be possible to receive the same level of attention from my professors and advisor at a much larger institution, but I was wrong. In having the same professors for multiple courses within the department, I feel that I have achieved the same close relationships that I had in high school which has been paramount to my success and enjoyment. The enthusiasm and kindness of the faculty in this department is unparalleled and makes the study of such challenging material easy. If I can make a recommendation to prospective students it would be that Clinical Micro (MMG222) and Mammalian Cell Culture (MMG203) are not to be missed!
