  • What our students have to say...

UVM and the MMG program in particular has afforded me many opportunities in addition to having the sense of pride when answering the “what’s your major?” question and seeing the person’s countenance change to confusion and awe. MMG is a small enough program to become extremely close with other MMG students as well as to the remarkable professors. Some of your classes are going to be difficult and at times you may question why you’re taking certain classes, but just know that once you are able to delve deeper past the general requirements, the classes offered by the MMG department almost make up for BCOR or the sleepless nights from GenChem. For some reason Brenda Tessmann entrusted me to be a Teacher’s Assistant for MMG101, and this experience showed me that I would never want to be a teacher, but it was also very rewarding to help students with a subject I was particularly interested in. This department allowed for me to actually interact with students where as TAs play a more behind the scenes role in other departments. Overall, if you want to impress your friends, actually want to find a job post-grad, or foster such strong connections with the professors that you can respectfully refer to them as “Booboo,” MMG is the best program for you!
