  • What our students have to say...

I went into molecular genetics almost by default. I had enjoyed the cellular mechanisms that I had learned in AP biology and was vaguely interested in disease, but I really had no idea what I wanted and stumbled upon this major at orientation, a wide-eyed first-year looking for a passion. I count myself incredibly lucky that I found MMG. In this major, I have been challenged, pushed to my academic limits and found myself able to go beyond them. Beyond the material itself being fascinating and rewarding, the mentorship in the MMG department has been incredibly helpful and excellent in every way. I could have never gotten through these four years without the tailored help and individualized support from the group of faculty that have become my advisers, mentors, and friends. These incredible people saw what I was capable of and pushed me to realize it. They have inspired in me a passionate thirst for knowledge that will fuel my further education and career. But, more importantly, they have helped me form the stable academic foundation and confidence that will allow me to go forward into the world and do, well, anything! Thanks to MMG, I am much more sure of who I am, what I want to be, and what my interests are. In a million years, I could never thank them enough.
