• What our students have to say...

When I initially enrolled at UVM, I was unsure which major best fit my interests. Though I changed majors several times in pursuit of a subject that piqued my interest, eventually I honed in on my interests and, with the help of Stephanie Phelps, an amazing advisor in the MMG department, I chose to major in microbiology. This major has allowed me to take coursework investigating infectious disease, disease transmission and progression, the immune system, as well as fulfill all requirements to seek higher education in the medical field. Additionally, in my time at UVM, I took both the EMT and AEMT courses. Initially, coming into UVM as a freshman student, I had no medical experience and had never even learned CPR. Over the course of 4 years I have learned much about emergency medicine, about the interventions and treatments available in the emergency department, as well as conducted research into cutting edge emergency medical treatments. Though my course work has been challenging, and my extracurriculars have kept me extremely busy throughout my time at UVM, I have loved every minute of the journey, and cannot wait to continue my education becoming a paramedic in Phoenix, Arizona. I would not have reached where I am today without the knowledge and encouragement provide to me from the staff and instructors of UVM's MMG program
