Danbury Hospital and UVM College of Medicine present Second Global Health Series Program

The University of Vermont College of Medicine and teaching affiliate Danbury Hospital will present the second session of the Global Health Series on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Sullivan Classroom, Medical Education Center 200, at the UVM College of Medicine.

Hosted by Majid Sadigh, M.D., infectious disease specialist and director of the Global Health Center at Danbury Hospital/Western Connecticut Health Center, the evening program will feature a panel of experts, including:

• William Fabricius, M.D., internal medicine chief resident at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, Conn., will present on “Reflections on a Clinical Elective in Russia;”

• Allison Arwady, M.D., primary care chief resident, Yale School of Medicine, will read from her Journal of the American Medical Association article, titled “Collateral,” regarding a young mother at Mulago Hospital in Uganda;

• John Curtis, photojournalist and editor of Yale Medicine, will present a photo-essay titled “Reflections of a Day in Kasensero” about a tiny village by Lake Victoria in Uganda;

• Katrin Sara Sadigh, senior medical student, will present on “The Circle of Silence”;

• Majid Sadigh, M.D., will present on “The Impact of an Exchange Program on Medical Education in Kazan State Medical University”;

• Mary Streeter, M.S., UVM clinical instructor in radiology, and Tamar Goldberg, UVM medical student, will present on “Innovation in Uganda for Training Remote Ultrasound Personnel: A 3-Phase Educational Model”.

The Global Health Series introductory session was held at UVM on October 2, 2012. Students, residents and faculty from the UVM College of Medicine, UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Fletcher Allen Health Care, are invited to attend.
