Pediatric Other Solid Tumors Clinical Trials

Study Title: Phase III Randomized Study of Chimeric Anti-GD2 in High Risk Neuroblastoma Following Myeloablative Therapy and Autologous Stem Cell Rescue
Purpose: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of chemotherapy with or without monoclonal antibody, interleukin-2, and sargramostim following stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have neuroblastoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Interleukin-2 and sargramostim may stimulate a person's white blood cells to kill cancer cells. It is not yet known if chemotherapy is more effective with or without monoclonal antibody therapy, interleukin-2, and sargramostim following stem cell transplantation in treating neuroblastoma
