Teuscher (PI) 2003-2008 10% National Multiple Sclerosis Society $150,000 Collaborative MS Research Center Award This project proposes to examine the molecular basis for defective signal transduction through the H1R and resistance to EAE. Additionally, the roles of H2R, H3R and H4R signaling in the pathogenesis of EAE will be examined. Overlap: There is overlap with this application only with respect to the studies on the H1R. In the event that both applications are funded, then we will negotiate with the NMSS to fund only those studies dealing with the H2R, H3R and H4R

Teuscher (PI) 2003-2008 20%Wadsworth Foundation $250,000Histamine Receptor Signaling in Central Nervous System Autoimmune DiseaseThis project proposes to examine the role of histamine H2, H3 and H4 receptor in regulating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. These studies will use the murine model of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis and focus on both the mechanistic basis and potential therapeutic use of histamine receptor selective agonists and antagonists in the potential treatment of EAE as a model for multiple sclerosis.Overlap: None. Different receptors polymorphisms and signaling pathways are being investigated.
