Highlights of ASCO 2013, the Vermont Cancer Center's annual review of the national ASCO conference, will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 in the UVM Davis Center. Registration is now open, and a brochure describing the event is now available for download.
For 16 consecutive years, the Vermont Cancer Center has coordinated this review as a service to its members, staff, and their regional healthcare colleagues. The event is for physicians, oncology nurses, and all other medical and oncology professionals and will summarize not only the national ASCO meeting but also other major cancer symposia from the past year.
At the conclusion of this meeting, participants will be able to describe new treatments for cancer presented at the national 2013 ASCO meeting, understand limitations of data behind cancer treatment, and gain a better understanding of support in the management of cancer. Key data will be presented, interpreted, and analyzed. Ample time for questions and discussion will be provided.
This year's keynote address will be delivered by Tim Ahles, PhD. Dr. Ahles currently leads the Neurocognitive Research Laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. His research is focused on investigating cognitive changes associated with cancer and cancer treatments. He will discuss the cognitive impairment known as chemobrain, which commonly occurs as a result of cancer treatment.
