Pediatric Psychiatry Clinic
Outpatient care at Fletcher Allen and the VCCYF is provided by psychiatry residents, five board certified child psychiatrists, two nurse practioners, two clinical psychology interns, three clinical psychologists, a psychiatric case manager, and two family wellness coaches.
The Pediatric Psychiatry clinic at the Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families offers child and adolescent psychiatry assessment and treatment using a family based approach. We provice diagnostic services using both the standard DSM format and the internationally known Achenbach system of empirically based assessment (ASEBA).
There is limted space for ongoing cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. Due to a critical shortage of child psychiatrists both nationally and locally, there may be a wait of several months before patients can be seen.
The requesting Pediatrician/PCP fills out a consultation referral and forwards (mail or FAX) to the PPC. Once the referral is received, contact will be made and a packet of necessary forms will be mailed out or emailed. Once the packet is returned by the family, a visit will be scheduled.
The patient is seen by one of the Psychiatry Residents or Fellows for a Mental Health Evaluation. One of our 5 Attending Child Psychiatrists or 2 Nurse Practitioners also sees each patient. The patient is sent back to his/her Pediatrician/PCP for follow care along with recommended treatment plan.
For more information about the referral process, informational packets, and appointments, please call our Intake Line at (802) 847-2224, or fax your referral to (802) 847-7998.
