We provide surgical services and surgical training at The University of Vermont Medical Center, a tertiary care academic medical center. We are proud to be an integral part of this high quality, cost efficient health care center. Our mission is to provide excellent patient care, superb resident and medical student training, and to foster research and innovation.
Faculty and training
We strive to recruit and retain the best faculty members. Currently, we have about 99 faculty members across a wide range of specialties, with residency training programs in General Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Otolaryngology.
Each division focuses on individual educational and research objectives and academic activities including fellowship training, research, and other scholarly work.

Peter Zvara, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of surgery in the division of surgical research, and Michael Lam, M.D., a Class of 2014 medical student, received second place in the most prestigious urology prize in the world – the Diokno-Lapides Essay Contest.
