The care of patients with venous thrombosis and its complications, with an emphasis on tailoring treatments to an individual's level of risk, and on evaluations for inherited and acquired hypercoagulable syndromes when appropriate. Evaluation and management of patients with premature or unexplained arterial vascular disease and the role of novel risk factors in their management. Evaluation and management of antiphospholipid syndrome. Optimization of the quality of acute and chronic administration of anticoagulant medications for treatment and prevention of thrombosis.
The epidemiology of coagulation, inflammation, and other vascular-related domains in relation to etiology and pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases (myocardial infarction, stroke, and venous thrombosis) and other diseases of aging. The role of disorders of coagulation in venous and arterial thrombotic disease, and the therapy of these disorders. Racial disparities, especially in stroke and venous disease. Etiologic factors in post-thrombotic syndrome and chronic venous disease.
