Academic and clinical excellence
The Department of Neurological Sciences is committed to excellence in education, research, and clinical care. The Department is actively engaged with the neuroscience community at the University of Vermont, integrating clinical approaches with research studies and educational programs.
Education
Neurological Sciences faculty contribute substantially in teaching and mentoring medical students. The department offers a residency program and four fellowships, as well as programs for undergraduate students, graduate students, and post doctoral-fellows interested in the neurosciences.
Research
The integration of basic research with new clinical approaches and insights holds the promise of future treatments for neurological conditions. The department is home to a number of nationally and internationally recognized research programs and an NIH-supported Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Neuroscience.
Patient Care
The Neurology health care team at Fletcher Allen is an extensive group of highly skilled experts dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the brain and nervous system, such as stroke, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases.
