Our faculty are key members of the educational team at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care. We actively engage students and trainees in the classroom, in the clinic, and in research settings. Our educators teach sections of the Vermont Integrated Curriculum and help train graduate students and post doctoral fellows as they pursue their degrees. Residents in Internal Medicine are taught as part of the consultative service.
The division participates in Internal Medicine resident training and the Infectious Disease Fellowship program, designed for trainees to pursue infectious disease careers that may involve clinical care, hospital infection control, and clinical, translational, and basic science research.
Medical Student Education
Our faculty teach courses throughout the year including coursework in Attacks and Defenses, Neural Sciences, Generations, Connections, Convergence and Doctoring in Vermont, medicine clerkships and acting internships sections of the Vermont Integrated Curriculum. Didactic and bedside teaching are key elements to the Infectious Disease elective. Additionally, our faculty lecture the clinical clerks on various Infectious disease topics at the hospital.
