Bodden Sparks Tobacco-Free Initiative
Fueled in part by his experience as a nursing assistant in the medical intensive care unit at Fletcher Allen Health Care, medical student Larry Bodden (Class of 2014) has been rallying students and community members around prohibiting tobacco use on campus. On March 11, UVM took a major step in that direction when President Tom Sullivan announced a multi-year planning process to create a tobacco-free campus. The University Benefits Advisory Council, chaired by Associate Dean for Public Health Jan Carney, M.D., M.P.H., recommended the initiative to the President.
The next meeting of the UBAC will be Tuesday, March 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM in Memorial Lounge, Waterman 338. Meetings are open and always reserve time on the agenda for public comment.
Meet the Staff: Emma Faustner
Emma Faustner has been part of the Office of Medical Student Education for over 10 years. As coordinator for the Advanced Integration year as well as the residency application process Emma works closely with the 4th year students, department coordinators, and the Associate Dean for Students.
