CNN features research by Professor Susan Lakoski concerning fitness and cancer

CNN, and other media sources, covered research done by Susan G. Lakoski, M.D., M.S., assistant professor of medicine. The study, based on data gathered at the Cooper Institute in Dallas, examined the likelihood of developing cancer, based on fitness level. Over 17,000 middle-aged men were tested and tracked at the institute, and Dr. Lakoski found that the more fit men were significantly less likely to develop, and die from, cancer. “This important study establishes cardiorespiratory fitness as an independent and strong predictor of cancer risk and prognosis in men,” American Society of Clinical Oncology president Dr. Sandra Swain commented.
