OPEN House - RACE: Are We Really So Different?
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Location: ECHO Lake Aquarium & Science Ctr
Description: The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the UVM College of Medicine Invites you and your guest to an Open House and Exhibit Tour. College of Medicine faculty, staff and students and their families and guests are invited for a tour of this compelling exhibit at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center. Light refreshments will be served.

Description: Supported by the UVM College of Medicine Department of Family Medicine, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and TOPMEd HRSA Training Grant.
The annual Cultural Awareness Workshop is an integral part of the curricula for College of Medicine students and Family Medicine Residents.

Film: "The Powerbroker"
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Flynn Space
Description: The Flynn Center partners with Vermont Public Television and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University of Vermont to present Community Cinema in FlynnSpace. Community Cinema is a free monthly screening series showcasing the Emmy Award-winning PBS Series Independent Lens. A new film is previewed at these screenings one month prior to the scheduled broadcast of each film on Vermont Public Television.
Following each hour-long film, a community discussion that expands on and examines the film is presented.
Whitney M. Young, Jr. was one of the most celebrated and contro-versial leaders of the civil rights era. As executive director of the National Urban League, he took the struggle for equality directly to the powerful white elite, gaining allies in business and government, including three presidents.

Blackboard Jungle- Keynote Kickoff

Description: In celebration of women's history, the 2013 Keynote Kickoff speaker for the Blackboard Jungle Symposium will be Rebecca Walker, author of To Be Real: Telling the Truth and Changing the Face of Feminism.
She will speak on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel.
The Keynote Kickoff is free and open to the public.
Film Screening & Panel Discussion: "How to Survive A Plague"
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Waterman Building, Room 413
Description: The LGBTQA Center at UVM, along with our partners, would like to invite both the UVM community and general public to attend a free screening of the new film, "How to Survive A Plague," which will be followed by a panel discussion that our collaborators at Vermont Cares, Living Well, the UVM College of Medicine Gay-Straight Alliance, and the UVM Free2B student group are helping to organize. More information about the film can be found at surviveaplague.com. Seating capacity is capped at 108 people and doors will open at 5:45 with the film starting at 6:00.
