Primary Care Sports Medicine
The 2013 Primary Care Sports Medicine conference was a huge success. Join us for our next meeting in 2015!
This course is designed to update knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of common sports medicine problems. Primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and health professionals with an interest in sports medicine are encouraged to attend. Topics will include discussions of both medical and orthopedic issues, and several hands-on workshops will be conducted featuring joint-specific examinations. There will be ample opportunity for participants to ask questions and interact with faculty.
1. Discuss issues unique to the primary care of athletes.
2. Develop skills in assessing and treating the injured and/or ill athlete.
3. Describe risk factors for ACL injury.
4. Discuss treatment of concussions.
The University of Vermont College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Burlington is ideally situated on the shores of Lake Champlain, the sixth largest freshwater lake in the U.S. It offers panoramic views of the Adirondack and Green Mountains, great shopping and excellent restaurants. The Burlington Community Boathouse has bicycles for rent; a bike path spans several miles of the lake’s shore. The Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center is nearby. Within an hour’s drive are Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, tours of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory and the world's largest granite quarry.
The Burlington International Airport is served by several major airlines. Auto rentals are available at the airport, but should be reserved in advance. Hotel van service is available upon request.
Burlington is an easy 3½ hour drive from Boston, just 1½ hours from Montreal, and 7 hours from New York City. The Sheraton/Burlington exit is 14W off Interstate 89..

Flash Drive or Printed Syllabus
Please indicate on the registration panel if you wish to receive a flash drive with PDF versions of the presentations, or if you wish to receive a syllabus book with printed handouts. If you choose flash drive, please bring your laptop. Extra books will not be available at the conference. You may choose to receive both a flash drive and a printed syllabus, however a $15.00 fee will apply.
