Profiles In Giving
Barry Finette, M.D., Ph.D., professor of pediatrics and associate professor of microbiology and molecular genetics (above) carries on his pediatric cancer research thanks in part to the generous support of the late Millicent Percy. Ms. Percy never met the many children who, today and in the years to come, will benefit from her help, but her generosity is helping to yield new knowledge in the fight against their pediatric cancers. Upon her death in 2010, Ms. Percy left a bequest to fund leukemia research at the University of Vermont, in honor of her brother-in-law, the late Herbert Bowen Comings, who received his undergraduate degree from UVM in 1945.
