Educational Loan Repayment Program for Health Care Professionals

Please read the program overview and participant eligibility carefully since this is updated by the State of Vermont annually and changes based on the greatest, current statewide workforce shortages and needs.

The Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program for Health Care Professionals is funded by the State of Vermont through the Department of Health, and is administered by the University of Vermont College of Medicine Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program.

The purpose of this loan repayment program is to respond to the workforce shortage of certain health professionals in Vermont thereby increasing access to health care for underserved populations and communities. This program aims to contribute to a stabilized workforce at the specific work site (as identified in application materials) and timeframe.

Effective for the 2016 cycle, there are a number of program changes due to reduced funding and identified state health care workforce priorities within these funding limitations.
