Medical Student Admissions

For Our Interviewing Applicants

We know your GPA, your MCAT score, what you've done and for how long. But we don't really know you yet. Our interview day has been structured to give you the opportunity to show us more about who you are and give us the opportunity to learn more about you beyond your resumé and test scores. You've done the hard work to get to this point and Interview Day is the time to fulfill the promise of your application. All you have to do is be yourself.

Please arrive between 7:30 and 8:00am to check in and meet other applicants. We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes as you will be moving around throughout the day. We will begin at 8:00am with an Orientation session led by the Associate Dean for Admissions, Dr. Janice Gallant, and end by 3:30pm.

During the day you will:

  • Meet with College of Medicine faculty, staff and students
  • Participate in a circuit where you will speak with nine interviewers
  • Have a chance to demonstrate your teamwork and communication skills
  • Hear important information about financing a medical education
  • Learn about UVM's award-winning Vermont Integrated Curriculum
  • Tour the College and University of Vermont Medical Center
  • Have lunch compliments of our Medical Alumni Association

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about Interview Day. We look forward to meeting you!

Student Hosting Program

Dear Prospective Student:

Congratulations on being invited for an interview at the University of Vermont College of Medicine! We remember how it feels to be in your place. We've had the experience of filling out applications, the anxiety of waiting to hear back from medical schools, and the excitement of receiving each positive reply. We also remember how expensive the process became.

In order to help defray costs, we have established a student host service here at the UVM College of Medicine. Although we cannot promise to provide a luxurious dinner or a king-size bed, we can offer another perspective on UVM and a free place to stay for the night.

In an attempt to match you with a student host we request that you fill out this Google Doc form.  Please note that we will match you with a host in order of interview date, so if your request is for a month or more out, you may not receive a response right away.

Due to our schedules, there may be times where no host is available for a particular day. While we make every effort to accommodate as many applicants as possible, at times we cannot do so. If we are able to match you with a host you will be informed via email.

Thank you for your interest in student hosting and we wish you the best of luck during the interview process.

Best wishes,

Student Hosting Committee

"My interview day was a huge factor in my decision to attend UVM. The students seemed very happy, the staff were awesome and the integrated curriculum seemed like the right way to learn medicine. "
