As part of their Schweitzer Fellows project, Class of 2016 students Janel Martir and Leslie Wenning used their love of art to form an Art Activity Group for residents of Northern Lights, a support house for women transitioning from incarceration. Leslie, who previously led an art therapy group at an in-patient eating disorder clinic in Oxnard, CA, and Janel, who worked as an Assistant Art Instructor where she led art activities at the Modern Museum of Art in NYC, created an environment for the women of Northern Lights and their families to experience the fun and inspirational process of art-making within a supportive, social, and safe environment.

For the 2013 Art Hop in Burlington in early September, the Group created a showcase exhibit entitled "METAMORPHOSIS: Northern Lights' Group Art Exhibition" that included eight pieces. Two of the eight have been sold, with the proceeds going directly to the residents and families of Northern Lights.

View the art work and learn more about the project in their blog, and read the thank-you note, received from the residents at Northern Lights. For information, contact Janel or Leslie.
