A generous bequest from Evelyn Anton, who died at the age of 92 in July of 2011, has added $200,000 to a philanthropic fund established at the UVM College of Medicine in memory of her late husband, Harry Anton, M.D., who was a member of the College’s Class of 1940.

The endowed fund was established in 1987 by Mrs. Anton and her son, Ray Anton, M.D., a member of the Class of 1970, to honor the elder Dr. Anton. A general surgeon by training, Dr. Harry Anton also served during his career as a general practitioner in his community.

Ray Anton, an anesthesiologist, carried on the family’s spirit of involvement at the College; he is a past president of the Medical Alumni Association and serves as a class agent. His parents, Evelyn and Harry, married in 1942; for many years she served as a nurse and office manager at the Anton practice in Palmer, Mass.
