Current and Recent Projects
Current and recent College of Medicine projects are described with links to more information. Additionally, Facilities Updates are archived below.
Larner Classroom for Team Based Learning
This project is a $1.25 million renovation of the third floor north of the Courtyard at Given to create a new team based learning space. Accommodating 120 students, the space can be configured for both small and large group functions. Advanced educational technology will be employed including large display monitors, audience response system, advanced video and sound system and capacity to interface with existing learning management systems. The anticipated completion date is summer 2014 for medical student use beginning in August 2014. See the floor plan (PDF) and timeline (PDF).
Research Lab (Stafford/HSRF)
This project involves a full renovation of approximately 8,000 SF into new laboratories and supporting spaces as well as a Neurobehavioral Lab. It will impact the basement and a portion of the first floor of Stafford Hall with an accompanying small space in the basement of HSRF. The project budget is $2.8 million and scheduled to be complete in July 2013. See the floor plan (PDF), schedule (PDF).
State Public Health Lab Collaboration
The State will be constructing a new 60,000 SF building for the state health labs, with a connection to our Colchester Research Facility. The project plan calls for sharing of common facilities, such as conference rooms, as well as cooperative arrangements for specialized lab facilities and dedicated office space. The construction is expected to be completed by September 2014. See the exterior concept plan (PDF), schedule (PDF) and construction update (PDF).
