The Mosaic Center for Students of Color

Greetings MCSC Community. My name is Rezwana Zafar and I am humbled to be the Coordinator for Assessment & Retention, and join as the newest staff at the Mosaic Center for Students of Color. I am originally from Bangladesh and self-identify as a Muslim Woman of Color. I grew up in Queens, NY where I fell in love with food off the streets of Flushing and Woodside. Somewhere along the way, I became immersed in the anti-fracking movement in NYC, and worked around environmental justice issues in my community. I entered UVM in the summer of 2013 through the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, where I studied to be a social scientist. I spent my time examining framing processes within the context of social movement mobilization. But a larger part of my graduate career was spent at the MCSC. Like many other students of color, I was searching for community, and the MCSC staff was instrumental in introducing me to many individuals on and off campus. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to connect with incredible students, staff, and faculty of color. I am always inspired by the strength that we bring as a community, and feel blessed to be part of a family that helped me complete my Master's degree. So I welcome you to stop by my office and look forward to connecting in the coming semester.
