Curriculum
In this 13-week introductory course, presented via interactive television at sites around the state, we cover the basics of home horticulture and what it means to be a Master Gardener (MG). The instructors are UVM faculty and VT Horticulture Professionals. Topics include: Botany, Turf and Weeds, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Vegetables, Soils, Woody Ornamentals, Perennials and Annuals, Landscape Design (Intro), Applied Pest Management, UVM Extension Volunteering, and Invasive Plant Control. Volunteer Internship/Certification
Remember, to receive your certificate as a Vermont Master Gardener, you must complete a volunteer internship of 40 hours in addition to the Basic Course. Graduates (MG Interns) will partner with Certified Master Gardeners on local projects. 40 Hour Internship must be completed by December, 2009.

Admission to the Course
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis and historically this course has filled very early. If you are interested in the course, we urge you to sign up NOW to avoid disappointment. Tuition for the course is $285. The Master Gardener Training Handbook and Instructors materials (required) is an additional $60. Enrollment Deadline & Late Fees
The deadline for the 2008 class is January 18th. Thereafter, a late fee of $40 is required. After class begins on February 5, late enrollees must also purchase a DVD of missed classes at $15 per DVD.
Missed Classes
This course runs 13 consecutive weeks. Students are expected to purchase a DVD of every missed class and submit a written summary. The DVD price is $15 each. A maximum of 3 absences is allowed, providing a written summary is submitted for each class missed.
Refund Policy
The full amount, less a $50 processing fee, may be refunded until December 14th. Cancellations that are postmarked December 15 through January 1 will only receive a refund of $100. After January 1, 2008, we cannot offer a refund.
Enrollment Confirmation
Registration is confirmed via an email within one week of your full payment. It will also provide your class location, directions, and the date the course materials will be shipped to you. Please print and retain this letter for your records.
