Living/Learning Center Pottery Co-op
Class Descriptions from some of the instructors:
Beginning/Patty & Tess: Throwing and handbuilding skills for any skill level you enthusiastically arrive with
Beginning/Bech: Fundamental handbuilding, throwing, and glazing techniques involved in making pottery
Advanced Wheel/Becca: This course aims to take the skills you may have learned in other pottery classes (wedging, centering, throwing a cylinder) to push yourself into some more advanced forms. We will work on sets, lidded jars and altering the clay while it is still wet.
Beginning/Theora and Rebecca: Three handbuilding classes to get everyone used to working with clay (pinching, coils, and slabs) with the rest of the semester devoted to learning to throw on the wheel. We'll work with stoneware (high fire) and terra cotta (low fire) so students will be able to experiment with glazes and slips.
Intermediate/Geoff and Becky: Reinforcing the basics while expanding upon the skills needed to take your pottery to the next level. With the classes input we will cover projects that interest the students, which cover a diverse range of topics such as handbuilding, functional wheel thrown ware, surface decoration, and alternative firing.
Intermediate/Chris and Sherry: a project-based class focusing on altered forms where unexpected shapes are created by mixing intermediate wheel techniques with hand building. Both Chris and Sherry's passion is Raku and love to see the magic that fire creates.
