The Learning Co-Op employs over 150 undergraduate students.  We have work-study, wages, and volunteer opportunities!  Please click on the links below to learn about our different employment opportunities.

Subject-Area Tutor

Subject area tutors provide individual and group tutoring by appointment to UVM undergraduates enrolled in specific course(s).  Tutors must have sophomore year standing, have previously taken the course, and obtain a faculty recommendation.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader

SI leaders attend lecture and take notes along with students, then prepare two, hour-long review sessions each week that focus on key skills and concepts presented.  SI leaders must have sophomore year standing, have previously taken the course, and obtain a faculty recommendation.

Learning Skills Tutors

Learning Skills tutors work with students on improving skills such as time management, test taking, study skills, reading comprehension and note taking. Tutors are recruited in February and March. Tutors must have at least sophomore year standing and have a cumulative GPA higher than 3.0. We are seeking service oriented students who are committed to serving members of the UVM community.

The Learning Skills Tutor position is open to all students, whether or not you have work study funds. In addition, after tutors have completed the 15 hour paid training program, they are eligible to earn $9/hr to start, with opportunities for further advancement. Most tutors work between 6-10 hours a week, and hours will be scheduled based on your availability.

Front Desk Student Assistants

Front Desk Assistants greet all visitors (students, faculty, staff, guests) to the Learning Co-Op and quickly assess what services best meet their needs. Student Assistants answer the telephone, schedule appointments, and assist with other Learning Co-Op administrative work. This position is only available to students with work-study.
