Learning Skills Tutor
Learning Skills tutors work with students to improve academic skills connected to college success. Sessions incorporate topics such as time management, note taking, effective reading strategies, test taking, and stress reduction. Tutors work with students both one-and-one and in groups in the Learning Co-Op and other locations on campus. Tutors also lead presentations and workshops as requested throughout the semester, and assist with campus outreach.
The Learning Co-Op is seeking service-oriented students with patience and commitment to work with members of the University of Vermont community. Students within all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have above a 3.0 GPA, and submit a faculty recommendation prior to hire.
$9.00 per hour ($9.75 if work-study) to start; with raises available with experience.
Tutors complete 15 hours of paid training in the spring semester to begin tutoring during the following fall semester. These training sessions occur once a week for a course of 5 weeks. The schedule and location of the training sessions is determined during the recruitment period each February.
