Subject-Area Tutoring provides discipline-specific assistance in courses across the curriculum. From one-on-one meetings with a tutor to focused group-sessions, Subject-Area Tutoring offers many ways to succeed in anything from French to Forestry, and most everything in between. Check out our programs and schedules below to find the study strategy best for you!

Individual Tutoring:

The Learning Co-op offers one-on-one peer tutoring for predominantly entry-level courses in many disciplines across the University. All of our 150+ tutors have been recommended by faculty members and complete training before they begin. You can make an appointment to meet with one of our tutors in the Learning Co-op, or arrange to meet with them around campus.

Drop-In Group Tutoring:

Need a quite place to do homework since there are never any tables in Bailey Howe? Tired of starting your math homework and getting stumped on the second problem? Coming to Drop-In tutoring allows you to take advantage of a great study environment, and to ask a tutor for help as soon as you get stuck. It’s your opportunity to meet with a tutor without having to schedule an appointment. Stop in with specific questions or to get feedback from your classmates. Tutors will be there to answer any questions you may have.

Supplemental Instruction:

For the particularly challenging lecture classes on campus—think Organic Chemistry and Anatomy & Physiology— the Learning Co-op offers Supplemental Instruction (SI). SI Leaders attend lecture and take notes, then prepare two, hour-long review sessions each week. These sessions are specifically targeted to the most important course material and also include valuable study tips. It’s the best way to maximize your study time; national statistics indicate that students attending regularly receive higher grades than those who never do!
