Job Description:
Group Tutors are responsible for facilitating small-group study for specific courses, including Math and the sciences. Group Tutors combine methods to work with students one-on-one and to support group interaction, assisting students in the creation and maintenance of study groups. The sessions they lead are on a drop-in basis and are largely informal. Group-Tutoring sessions, held typically once a week for no more than two hours, focus on both the mastery of specific material and the practice of valuable study skills.
Qualifications:
All undergraduate students are encouraged to apply beginning their second-year until their final semester as a senior. Tutors are required to have completed the course(s) they wish to tutor having maintained a grade of B+ or better and will be required to obtain a faculty recommendation completed by their professor for each course they wish to tutor. The recommendation is not necessary for application, but must be submitted prior to hire. Upon hire, tutors must also attend training before they can begin work in the Learning Co-op.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements to work as an individual tutor, applicants interested in becoming a Group Tutor must display excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Compensation:
$9.00 per hour ($9.75 if work-study) to start; with raises available with experience.
