Regina Carter is the preeminent jazz violinist performing today. In her latest project, made possible by a MacArthur “Genius” grant, she combines her own jazz sensibility with the world of African folk music. Her band is joined on this tour by Kora virtuoso Yacouba Sissoko to help recreate the traditional Malian sound. The result—unlike anything previously heard—is a haunting and beautiful compliment to Regina’s sumptuously seductive violin.
