Peter Sykes
Fortepiano

October 23, 2009 7:30PM
UVM Recital Hall | $25 adult / $20 student
Pre-concert talk with artist in hall at 6:30 pm

Peter Sykes has generously offered to make time in his busy schedule to take the place of Andreas Staier who has been forced to cancel his US tour for health reasons. Mr. Sykes will have a very similar program to the one Mr. Staier was to play including works by Haydn, CPE Bach, and early Beethoven.

About Mr. Sykes: One of the most versatile keyboard artists performing today, Peter Sykes is equally virtuosic on fortepiano, harpsichord, and organ. Recent performance venues include the Library of Congress, Boston Early Music Festival, Aston Magna Festival, New England Bach Festival, Portland Chamber Music Festival, New Hampshire Music Festival, and with Ensemble Project Ars Nova, The King's Noyse, Musica Antiqua Köln, and throughout the United States, including an appearance in Boston's Jordan Hall as a featured soloist (Bach's Fifth Brandenburg Concerto) in the Bank of Boston Emerging Artists Celebrity Series. He is frequently heard on the nationally syndicated radio program "Pipedreams." Recent appearances include an all-Bach inaugural recital in Reykjavik, Bach's Goldberg Variations for the Renaissance and Baroque Society in Pittsburgh, Manuel de Falla's Harpsichord Concerto with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble, and the Schumann Piano Quintet on original instruments with the Van Swieten Quartet.

A Lane Series favorite, we are delighted that Mr. Sykes has agreed to perform on such short notice.
