"Lage's well-developed personality shines through. Here's a jazz newcomer more interested in elegance than in flash, more interested in instrumental storytelling than in virtuosity." Washington Post
Julian Lage appeared in an Academy Award nominated documentary Jules at Eight, about his life as a guitar-playing prodigy. Six years later, at the age of 14, Lage stunned Lane Series audiences with his extraordinary talents. Now, at 21, he has grown into an established artist who performs with luminaries like Gary Burton, Herbie Hancock, and Bela Fleck who calls him "one of the special ones." Having just recorded his first CD, Sounding Point, we welcome him back to the Series, leading his own band of accomplished musicians, playing original compositions and standards in his unique blend of jazz, blues, folk and classical style.
