Many roads travel through Greensboro, North Carolina. And a good number of those roads head toward Vermont. NC dances VT gathers together the work of three distinctive voices in dance, all with one major thing in common–Greensboro, NC.
The Greensboro-based Van Dyke Dance Group showcases Jan Van Dyke’s choreography, known for its dynamic energy and rhythmic precision. Her dances are highly structured and meticulously crafted, while the movement vocabulary is quick, vigorous and driving. Professor emeriti and former Chair of Dance at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Van Dyke knows both Paul Besaw (MFA) and Christal Brown (BFA) as former students. Now living, working, and leading their respective dance programs at UVM and Middlebury College, Besaw and Brown contribute the unique artistic approaches they have developed since their days in Greensboro to this rich gathering of dance.
