“…you could hear a pin drop as attendees hung on every note. Her profound expressiveness and ultimate musicianship was so spellbinding it totally absorbed we listeners.” – Georgetown Gazette

Acclaimed for exceptional temperament, personal expressivity and insight, pianist TIEN HSIEH has enjoyed a wide-ranging career as a recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician.  She is a prizewinner of competitions including the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Artists International Presentations Auditions in New York, Pacific Piano Competition, and Festival in California and has recently completed a highly successful tour of Budapest, Hungary, where she performed an All-Liszt program at the Liszt Museum. Her CD, Mostly Transcriptions, released in November, 2010, garnered the following praise from American Record Guide: “The effect is that Liszt himself was sitting in my living room…Hsieh plays with grace and energy.  She has a keen ear for the music’s architecture, and makes the piano sing in every register.” Tien will make a special stop with us on her way to another European tour and will perform a program of original compositions by Liszt as well as transcriptions by Liszt of music composed by Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart.
