“I had seen both Kaplansky and Shindell in their past performances at Landmark. Both were excellent performers in their own way, but together they were stellar.” – Ann W. Latner, Port Washington Patch
What a treat for our folk audience to have two of the world’s great singer-songwriters onstage together! When Lucy had to cancel her Lane Series engagement last year because of Hurricane Sandy, we knew we wanted to reengage her as soon as possible. When we realized that Richard was available to tour as well, we grabbed the chance. Both are superb musical storytellers with deep personal connections to their material that profoundly touch their audiences. Richard is an ex-patriot New Yorker, now living in Buenos Aires, whose songs range from lighthearted ballads and adulterous love songs, to dirges and diatribes that skillfully skewer politics, prejudice, war and religion. Lucy’s musical/life journey has been complex and interesting – she’s been a duet partner with artists like Shawn Colvin, Nancy Griffiths, and Suzanne Vega, took a hiatus from music to become a practicing Psychotherapist, and has now returned as a solo artist.
