“A Far Cry sounds poignant, precise, and subtle…the high caliber of musicianship was so constant, and that is something listeners have grown accustomed to at this ensemble’s performances.” — The Boston Globe
A cohesive, collective, conductorless marvel, A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra is breathing new life into the chamber orchestra repertoire with its creative programming and elegant playing. This group of 18 players will sound extraordinary in the acoustics of our recital hall. The program includes Hildegard von Bingen’s “The Origin of Fire,” Beethoven’s “Heiliger Dankgesang,” from Quartet op. 132, and, the heart of the program, Osvaldo Golijov’s haunting work, “The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind,” based on the writings of a 13th century mystical Rabbi of Provence. The great Klezmer clarinetist, David Krakauer, will join the orchestra for this work.
Pre-performance talk at 6:30pm.
