Luciana Souza’s Lane Series appearance in 2004 was simply one of our favorite concerts ever performed on our stage. When we heard that she’s put together an evening of music that includes work by the great American jazz trumpet player and singer Chet Baker, we were eager to bring her back. And what better time for an evening of Chet, the voice of the Rogers and Hart standard My Funny Valentine, than Valentine’s Day weekend? A Grammy winner, Luciana grew up in a family of Bossa Nova and classical Brazilian music innovators. Her work as a performer transcends traditional boundaries and offers solid roots in jazz, sophisticated lineage in world music, and an enlightened approach to classical repertoire and new music. In addition to the music of Chet Baker, her performance will include Brazilian classics.
