A charming and charismatic young performer, pianist Alexander Schimpf most recently emerged as the first German ever to win First Prize at the 2011 Cleveland International Piano Competition, where his final round performance at Severance Hall with the Cleveland
Orchestra honored him with the Audience Favorite Prize. Not only an award winner, he is an experienced concert performer with appearances at important music centers around the world including the Vienna Konzerthaus, Berlin’s Konzerthaus and in Zankel Hall at New York’s Carnegie Hall. His Lane performance will include Mozart’s Sonata KV 282; Debussy’s Images II;
Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 111; Nikolai Kapustin’s Selections from 24 Preludes in Jazz Style, Op. 53; and Morton Feldman’s Variations for Piano.
