Description:: This black and white photograph documents the barns on the Palmer property, which is located near the future site of I-91 construction between Thetford and Fairlee. A paved, two-lane highway curves up the center of the image. Utility poles line the road. Two large, wood-frame, gable-roof barns are sited to the right of the road. An ornate cupola tops the second barn. A car is parked along the road in front of the second barn. A wood-frame, gable-roof dwelling is sited farther up the left side of the road. Tree-covered hills rise beyond the dwelling. The season is summer.

Re-shot: Palmer Property, Barns

Description:: This color photograph documents the barns on the Palmer property, which is located along U.S. Route 5 in Thetford. Interstate-91 was constructed parallel with U.S. 5, directly to the west, resulting in the acquisition of a number of properties along the west side of the U.S. highway. The barns and farm house seen in this image set were spared from the path of the interstate; and despite a slightly wider shoulder on the highway, remarkably little has changed between the original image and the re-shot. The season is spring.
