Colchester Avenue, Looking North

Title:
Colchester Avenue, Looking North
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1965-06-28
Description:
This black and white photograph looks north down Colchester Avenue toward Winooski. The paved road passes up the center of the image, crosses a bridge in the midground, and narrows into the distance. A large number of cars drive up and down the road and are stopped at the traffic signals that hang over an intersection at the near end of the bridge. A cluster of traffics signs stand on a grassy median at the left side of the intersection. A fire hydrant stands on the near side of the intersection in the foreground. Utility lines pass across the roadway, and street lamps arch over the roadway. Sidewalks run along both sides of the road, and concrete railings line the bridge. A large, brick mill building stands along the river to the right of the bridge. Brick commercial blocks are sited up and down the road on the far side of the bridge. Deciduous trees grow along the river and beyond the buildings in the distance. The season is summer.
