State:
Vermont
Date:

Description:
In this photograph two roads converge. The road on the right has a road sign warning vehicles of its "legal load limit 24,000 pounds." A tree stump sits just next to the sign. A person can be seen walking next to the road among the trees on the hill. The road on the left is lined with utility lines and numerous automobiles are on the road. A three-story house sits on the hill in between the two roads. A clothesline runs from the house to a nearby tree. A car sits in a driveway next to the house. On the left side of the road piles of rocks and tree stumps can be seen. The ground in the foreground looks uneven and bumpy.

Re-shot of Ruth Hill Property
Town:
Springfield
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
2012-07-11
Description:
This is a re-shot of a 1959 photograph depicting the Ruth Hill property situated between Route 106 (River Street) and Reservoir Road in Springfield. The building looks much the same except for a change in paint color around the windows. A few more traffic signs have been installed, the guardrails are now solid metal instead of cables and many of the other buildings, once visible, are either no longer there, replaced by newer constructs or are obscured by vegetation. Trees have grown along the left side of the road and flowers have been planted in the triangular median.
