"The Den"

Title:
"The Den"
Town:
Unknown
County:
No_County
State:
Vermont
Date:
1888
Description:
This black and white photograph depicts "The Den" in Peru, according to information written on its back. "The Den" is a large two and a half story building with multiple chimneys and several dormer windows that appears to be used as a railroad station. Tracks run in front of the building. Several men are visible standing on the platform, which is providing cover by an overhang that extends under the second story windows. In the foreground, there is a motley assortment of wagons and other wooden articles gathered in a pile. Note the tall wooden pole that rises beside the pile. Behind "The Den" there is another building with a partially visible sign at its top that reads "TTSBUR." Bill Badger writes on 2013-05-26: This is not Peru, Vermont. There was never a railroad in Peru nor a building like this. The sign on the building to the rear is a hint that it is probably in or near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
