Construction on Drawbridge

Description:: This image shows construction on a bridge connecting Grand Isle and North Hero. In it, there are several men in hard hats working on the steel skeleton of the bridge. There are steel beams running vertically through the image with wooden planks being placed perpendicular on top. There are railings on the part of the bridge closer to the bank. On the left is a small house-like booth. At the entrance to the bridge are two wooden sign posts. Beyond the bridge, the shore can be seen. To the left are leafy coniferous and deciduous trees, and to the right is a field. It is likely Spring. Construction on this bridge began in 1951 and was completed in 1953. It replaced an older movable bridge, and is still operable today. It opens an 80-foot channel in Lake Champlain.
